Many congratulations...

...to all members of the choir who have taken part in the performancesat the Watercress festival, and also in Arundel Cathedral, for "Zadok Rules - Hallelujah!" At this latter event, it was wonderful to sing with a professional orchestra, The Hanover Band, and to share some social and fun time on the journey to and from Arundel.

Caroline Brown, Director of the Orchestra, was delighted with our performance and the quality of our singing throughout.

Well done to all who took part and thanks to those who have supported pur journey towards this concert but were unable to give the day to it, because of work commitments. We shall all thoroughly enjoy performing together again on June 29th in St John's at the Summer Breeze event!

Another Triumph to start our Second Year!

Our first 'Spring Concert: 'A Celebration of Life' was a huge success. After a short burst of Bortnianski's Tibie Paiom from the choir, Amy Williamson performed three Brahms songs to a breathless audience. Vivaldi's Gloria followed expertly accompanied by Kate Jones. The choir gave a sparkling performance, with crisp entries and subtle dynamic and mood changes, with beautiful contributions from Becki Clark, Amy Williamson and Naomi Neville as guest soloists. The choir clearly relished their first journey into the Baroque, joyful and exhuberant in the opening Gloria and closing Cum Sancto Spiritu, and appropriately sombre in the Agnus Dei.

The second half of the programme was lighter in content but no less demanding of the choir. With an opening reprise of Adiemus by Karl Jenkins and Weeping from the pen of Alexander L'Estrange the choir showed their pianissimo potential - no mean feat with such large numbers. Again, the audience showed rapt attention throughout three Handel solos from Becki Clark and Naomi Neville, followed by rapturous applause.

To end the evening, the choir with the excellent baritone, Keith Nightingale, gave a wonderful rendition of Flanders' and Horovitz's Captain Noah and His Floating Zoo. The audience were now accustomed to the choir's confident entries but still suprised by the range of accents used to tell the tale - and they certainly told the tale!

At the end of the work, with the arrival of the rainbow, the audience showed strong appreciation for all contributions to this wonderful evening's entertainment.
